The Contradiction Between Natural Healing and Conventional Medicines

"How can I dissolve the contradiction of being vegan with pills for diabetes?"
A letter from a student and my response...
Hi Avital, I wonder if you have an idea for me of how to solve a present conflict. My doctor told me this week that I have diabetes and must take pills now or it's danger (high sugar in blood can cause major problems). I do yoga and love pranayama meditation. I'm also vegan and like to be close to nature as much as possible, even in city life. So having to take pills into my body is very upsetting... Thank you... love and peace to you...
Dear Friend, I am sorry to hear the news about your diagnosis. I also want to commend you on taking action right away and trying to make a conscious choice.
I was very upset too when I was put on thyroid medication. I did not know of other options and trusted my doctors so I took the medication. I was told one of the side effects of the thyroid medication was osteoporosis. I had a silent prayer that somehow I would not need them anymore by age 40. Through meditation I believe I healed and have been off medication for 4 years. I also had no clue that would be possible. Now I do believe anything is possible, and there are no guarantees as we all have a different story that needs to play out.
I also believe it does not matter so much what you do, but the consciousness you imbue upon it. If you decide to take the medicine, then pray over it as if it is the most holy thing you are putting into your body. Create a new story about how it can affect you. Neem Karoli Baba took so much LSD one time probably to prove a point. That amount would kill the average person but did nothing to alter his state of consciousness. We may not all have the same power he does, but we can start to set our intention to do so and know that is a possibility. It is not objects that hold certain vibrations, but rather the vibration we impose upon it through our thoughts and beliefs.
About being a vegan...Have you seen the movie Alive? If you were in a plane crash over the Andes and landed on snow at high altitude, are you going to choose to starve or hunt for the only food supply available? (Yes, that movie got a little more gross with having to eat the people who had died as there was nothing to hunt for.) If you are in danger, medicine may do more good than harm at first.
Instilling whatever you put into your body with love and the highest consciousness is more important than being a vegan out of principle. I just returned from a vacation in Alaska where eating animals is a big part of the culture. When I saw their reverence and love for the animals, I did not feel so bad about the idea of eating meat. I don't think that will change my appetite, but do you get what I mean?
When I was teaching yoga in a small town in Mexico for a month most of the food they served me was food I was allergic to. I prayed over it and over my stomach. Instead of getting sick, I glowed!
I am not versed in diabetes nor a doctor, so I cannot give specific advice related to your situation on the medical side. You can take the medication now if you are in danger and start with doing more research on your diet and exercise regime and maybe you will naturally get off of the medication over time. Being a yoga and fitness instructor and having an interest in nutrition since a little child, I thought I knew a lot about a healthy diet but once I got sick I learned I had much more to discover.
On the spiritual side make sure you read the book Dying To Be Me by Anita Moorjani who was pronounced nearly dead from cancer yet healed in a few days. And watch my webinar The Power to Heal to learn more about why that can happen.
The next step is to join my online course How to Achieve Glowing Health and Vitality which addresses the physical, energetic, mental, emotional, and spiritual layers of healing. It lays out the path of what I feel helped heal me.
Please keep me posted on how things are going and how else I can help you. Good luck!
